NOW FINISH THE WORK, SO THAT YOUR EAGER WILLINGNESS TO DO IT MAY BE MATCHED BY YOUR COMPLETION OF IT, ACCORDING TO YOUR MEANS. FOR IF THE WILLINGNESS IS THERE, THE GIFT IS ACCEPTABLE ACCORDING TO WHAT ONE HAS, NOT ACCORDING TO WHAT ONE DOES NOT HAVE. OUR DESIRE IS NOT THAT OTHERS MIGHT BE RELIEVED WHILE YOU ARE HARD PRESSED, BUT THAT THERE MIGHT BE EQUALITY. 2 CORINTHIANS 8:11-13
Today marks the end of our 21-Day Devotion journey counting down to tomorrow. While it is the end of the devotion, it is by no means the end of the journey. It is actually the beginning of a new season in the life of our church.
Paul encouraged the church in Corinth to not only have good intentions, but to have hands that matched their hearts, according to what they had and not what they didn’t have. And I love Paul’s desire here. In other words, he says, “I don’t want a few people to carry the burden for everyone else.” Why? “That there might be equality”. This is not to say that we all ought to give the same. No, it’s recognizing that we are all in different seasons of life and so while our giving might look different, our level of sacrifices should not. It’s never been about equal giving, but about equal sacrifice.
As you prepare your gift to bring to church tomorrow, it is our prayer is that it will be a reflection of your heart for His House and that it will make room for miracles in your own house.
We want to take this opportunity on behalf of the leadership of Hillsong Church CPH to say THANK YOU for your continual faithfulness. Tomorrow will enable us to continue to see this House move forward as we are reach out with the hope of Jesus to this great city.
We love you, Thomas & Katherine
